Ideas

I have been thinking about what would nicely fit in with my music, as its a very fast moving beat so I want my animation to be the same. I want it to be something a bit different to watch and not like every other animation.

I now need to think about my narrative for my animation and then also make my storyboard. Using my starting words I'll start creating ideas for my narrative. I want to make simple objects seem alive and have human characteristics I'm my animations. This is known as anthropomorphism.

an·thro·po·mor·phism

Attribution of human motivation, characteristics, or behavior to inanimate objects, animals, or natural phenomena.

Stop Motion 1.

I have decided that I'm going to create a stop motion for my animation. As I think the final out come is more interesting and a lot of effort and care has to go into a stop motion.

I thought I'd do a little test for my first stop motion.

I really enjoyed making this small stop motion animation, I found it a lot more interesting than having to do the cell animation. I liked to do something like this for my final animation.

Cell Animation Workshop

In different groups we where told to create a cell animation using two different logos. We each had different section of the animation to complete having to do 24 drawings each to create 2 seconds of animation.

Working with our original logo in the top right hand corner.

Our key frames within our animation.

This is one of our logos, we chose this shape and saw a face in it so decided to make it move and build its face and the other logo move and created the body.

This is the animation of my little section.

Doing this workshop help to show us how you need to do every little movement and if you miss something out then there would be a bit gap in the animation. And to do a simple movement you need a lot of frames or cells.

Research

I have been listening to the music and have drawn things that came into my head when listening. Somethings I have thought about further and written how they could maybe work in an animation.

I have picked a range of words and they all sort of link together and these are the words that I'll be using for part of my inspiration.

The initial thoughts I had was someone running, this could be don't in stop motion or rotorscoping. I also thought about having flowers growing, a bird flying over a city scene, and then someone jumping but they would be moving also but always in the air and also a duck shaped pin moving also a desk and parts of the music reminded me of balloons.

Initial Research - Vidoes

I have decided that I'm going to work with the idea of movement as my piece of music differently have the feeling of movement within it. I have found a few you tube videos to start me off.

I love this one I think the use of all the images is really good and they have thought about how to interact the room with the pictures and the pictures with the room. My favourite bit is probably the hot air balloon and the sky dive I felt that was very clever and also going from the escalator to the underground.

I like this one because if feels like the little Rubik's cube is trying to match the colours its felt, and the music works well as its very up beat and the movement of the cube fits in well.

This one is a bit different to the first two. I like this one because in have lots of different things in and is very interesting in the way to has been shot and there is a narrative that it follows.

This has been done on a must larger scale compared to the one above 'lost things'. This is using a mix of real life objects like the door and the bike but also using toys, but they seem bigger as they have been placed in front of the camera.

Light painting is something that i'm quite interesting in and it will be an area I shall later explore.

Print to Pixel

Our new module is called Print to Pixel. This is where we have to create a 20-30 second piece of animation which will run along side a piece of music which we are given. My piece of music is called Tour de France.

When I first listen to the piece of music there was a range of words that came to mind, Energy and Movement but as the music when on it changed. It had more of a flow and I could imagine something floating along go up and down, the sounds where quite magical. After 3 minuets in it went back to the more fast paced and up beat tune. As well as it sounding magical in places it is also very mechanical.

My interpretation of the song through line.

The music is very fast paced and doesn't really have a soft start it starts with clapping and cheering and then is a very fast speed at the end there is a small fade and more cheering and clapping. For my animation it is going to have to be something think that has pace and movement.
